Data sources and attribution

AirDesk combines third-party data with the results of its own models. This page names every source the platform uses, what it contributes to what you see on screen — in the application and in this guide’s screenshots — and the attribution the source itself asks for, quoted in its own wording. It applies to every demo.

Where a source publishes a licence, it is named; where we have not confirmed one, the source is credited without stating its terms.

Source What it contributes Attribution
OpenStreetMap Streets, coastlines, boundaries and place names in every map style © OpenStreetMap contributors. Data available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
OpenMapTiles The vector-tile schema the OpenStreetMap data is organised in © OpenMapTiles
Positron and Fiord Color styles The design of the Positron and Fiord styles Positron design © CARTO. © MapTiler & OpenMapTiles contributors; © 2015 CartoDB Inc. Derived from “CartoDB Basemaps” designed by Stamen and Paul Norman for CartoDB Inc. Design licensed under CC BY 4.0.
MapTiler The MapTiler Basic cartographic style, the basis of the Streets style © MapTiler © OpenStreetMap contributors
Esri World Imagery The satellite imagery of the Satellite + Roads style Source: Esri, Vantor, Earthstar Geographics, and the GIS User Community

The cartographic tiles rendered from OpenStreetMap data in the OpenMapTiles schema are generated and served from our own servers, from regional extracts published by Geofabrik. Esri World Imagery and MapTiler elevation are used under each provider’s terms, and each AirDesk deployment obtains them with its own account with that provider.

The relief of the 3D map and the terrain the models run on come from three sources.

The Copernicus DEM is obtained from the AWS open-data registry and processed (resampled and tiled) before use, hence the produced using wording its licence requires for adapted data.
