Dimensions
Everything the map shows is one cell of a five-dimensional cube: a species, a scenario, a source group, a receptor and an instant. The top bar is the readout of all five; changing one moves the whole view to another cell, and nothing more.
| Dimension | Selector | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Species | SPECIES, in the top bar — and the contours list in Layers, which is the same door | The concentration layer, the marker values, the legend, the Alerts tabs |
| Scenario | SCENARIO | The emissions: the whole forecast changes plan |
| Source group | SOURCE GROUP | Total, or one group’s contribution alone |
| Receptor | RECEPTOR, the Receptors panel, an Alerts row, or a click on its marker | Where the view looks: the card, the series, and the camera if chosen from a list |
| Time | The timebar, Controls, a click on a Series curve | The instant drawn |
Three rules
Section titled “Three rules”The species is always an air-quality species. Meteorological parameters — temperature, wind, mixing — can be drawn as the contour layer, but never enter the dimension: the top bar never says “viewing temperature”.
Only a receptor sets the receptor. Clicking a source opens its card — a selection — but does not change the dimension; the Series panel stays on the receptor it had. Choosing a receptor from a list flies the camera to it keeping the zoom; clicking its marker does not move it.
Alerts live in the total. With a source group chosen, the layer and the markers show that group’s contribution, but a threshold is compared with the sum: the Series panel shows the total, and the timebar’s shading does not change.
What is not a dimension
Section titled “What is not a dimension”A layer’s settings — colour ramp, bands, opacity, order, wind style, how markers show — are not dimensions: they change not what is looked at but how it is drawn. They are set in Layers and resolve in tiers: the platform’s registry, the demo, what was saved as default, and the session.
The dimensions live in the session: on reload, the view returns to Bali’s default species, scenario and instant.
